Medan, 24 December 2025 – Floods and landslides caused by high rainfall since late November 2025 have affected a number of areas across Sumatra Island, including the Provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The disaster has resulted in infrastructure damage, disruptions to community economic activities, and significant social impacts.

Based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of 23 December 2025, the disaster has resulted in 1,112 fatalities, 176 people reported missing, and more than 500,000 individuals affected and forced to evacuate. As of today, emergency response status remains in effect in several regencies/cities to support the acceleration of disaster response and post-disaster recovery efforts.

Aceh Province has been among the most severely affected areas, where several regions experienced limited logistical access, disruptions in aid distribution, and challenges in meeting basic community needs, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and housewives.

In response to these conditions, BRI Danareksa Sekuritas (BRIDS), a subsidiary of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI), through its corporate social responsibility program BRIDS Peduli, has distributed humanitarian assistance in the form of hundreds of basic necessities packages to support the fulfillment of essential needs for communities affected by floods in Sumatra, with priority distribution in Aceh Province, which continues to require logistical support.

To ensure that the assistance is delivered in a timely manner and reaches hard-to-access areas, BRI Danareksa Sekuritas (BRIDS), through the BRIDS Medan Branch Office, collaborated with the Indonesian Air Force at Soewondo Air Base, Medan. The assistance was dispatched from Soewondo Air Base, Medan, using a Hercules C-130 aircraft to Rembele Airport, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, for subsequent distribution to communities in flood-affected areas.

The Acting President Director of BRIDS, Fifi Virgantria, stated that the distribution of aid reflects the Company’s commitment and concern in responding to disasters affecting several regions in Sumatra.

“The distribution of this assistance is a manifestation of BRI Danareksa Sekuritas’ concern and social responsibility to be present and provide tangible support for disaster-affected communities. We hope that this assistance can help ease the burden on communities while supporting the recovery process in the affected areas,” said Fifi.

Through this initiative, BRIDS reaffirms its commitment to actively supporting community social resilience and aligns with the BRI Group’s commitment to upholding the principles of social responsibility and sustainable development, particularly in emergency disaster situations.
