BRIDS Distributes Aid Packages to Support the Recovery of Flood Victims in Sumatra

Medan, 24 December 2025 – Prolonged heavy rainfall since late November 2025 has triggered floods and landslides across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, resulting in extensive damage and significant social impacts. Based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of 22 December 2025, the death toll reached 1,106 people, with 175 individuals still reported missing, while more than 502,000 people were affected and displaced by the disaster.

Aceh Province has been among the hardest-hit areas, with hundreds of fatalities and several regions experiencing temporary disruptions in logistical access and emergency services. To date, disaster emergency status remains in effect in a number of regencies and cities to support the acceleration of response efforts and post-disaster recovery.

In response to these conditions, BRI Danareksa Sekuritas (BRIDS), a subsidiary of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI), through its corporate social responsibility program, BRIDS Peduli, distributed basic food aid packages to communities affected by flooding in Sumatra. The assistance is intended for communities facing shortages of food supplies and basic necessities, with priority distribution in Aceh Province as an area still in urgent need of logistical support.

The Acting President Director of BRI Danareksa Sekuritas, Fifi Virgantria, stated that the distribution of aid reflects the Company’s commitment and concern in responding to disasters affecting several regions in Sumatra.

“The distribution of this assistance is a manifestation of BRI Danareksa Sekuritas’ care and social responsibility to be present and provide tangible support to communities affected by disasters. We hope that this aid can help ease the burden on the community while supporting the recovery process in the affected areas,” said Fifi.

To optimize the distribution of aid, the Company, through the BRIDS Medan Branch Office as its representative, collaborated with the Indonesian Air Force at Soewondo Air Base, Medan. The assistance was handed over at Soewondo Air Base, Medan, and subsequently loaded onto a Hercules C-130 aircraft to be delivered to flood-affected communities in Aceh Province.
