Jakarta, 26 September 2025PT BRI Danareksa Sekuritas (BRIDS), a subsidiary of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (IDX: BBRI), has awarded scholarships worth over IDR 100 million to 12 students from various state universities across Indonesia. The scholarship program is part of the company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) initiative, “CSR BRIDS Peduli”, conducted in collaboration with Yayasan Karya Salemba Empat (KSE). The support is provided in the form of living allowances and academic assistance for one academic year.

This program was initiated in response to the limited access to higher education among the public. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) as of the end of 2024, the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) for higher education in Indonesia reached only 32%. This means that out of every 100 college-age individuals, only about 32 were able to pursue higher education. Yet, as of February 15, 2025, Indonesia ranks second globally in terms of the number of higher education institutions.

Recognizing this condition, BRIDS places education as one of the key pillars in its sustainability commitment. The program targets students from underprivileged families who have demonstrated strong academic performance, through partial scholarships covering tuition fees or living costs worth IDR 750,000 per student per month.

Adrian Karim Januar, Chairman of KSE Foundation, emphasized that collaboration with corporations like BRIDS plays a vital role in expanding educational opportunities. “Corporate support through TJSL initiatives has a significant impact on promoting equitable access to education. This is not merely financial assistance for daily needs, but also a form of trust and encouragement for students to continue excelling and becoming agents of change in society. This year alone, we have supported up to 2,150 students, and we hope this number will continue to grow in the years ahead,” he explained.

One of the scholarship recipients from Nusa Cendana University, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Marcelita Da Costa Amaral, expressed her gratitude. “This scholarship is a tremendous blessing for me and my family. Since my father passed away in 2019, my mother has been raising us on a widow’s pension while still supporting five younger siblings who are still in school. With this assistance, I can continue my studies without worrying about tuition or other costs. I am truly grateful and determined to make the most of this opportunity to make my family proud and contribute positively to society,” she said.

BRIDS President Director, Laksono Widodo, added that this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability-driven TJSL programs since 2023. “Education is the foundation of the nation’s future. Through this program, we ensure that Indonesian youth have access to quality education. Since 2023, BRIDS has supported 37 students through KSE. Through our TJSL initiatives in education, we are committed to nurturing globally competitive talent and supporting the realization of Indonesia Emas 2045,” he stated.

Going forward, BRIDS remains committed to providing impactful and sustainable CSR programs, particularly in promoting inclusive and quality education. The company’s initiatives are aligned with one of the key objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — to create long-lasting benefits and positive impact for more people.
